Terms of Service
Effective May 4, 2026.
Welcome. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the StreetLore mobile app, website (streetlore.app), and any related services (collectively, the “Service”), provided by StreetLore LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“StreetLore,” “we,” “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. What StreetLore is
StreetLore is an audio companion that narrates the lore of places you walk or drive past. It uses your device’s location, AI text generation, and AI-synthesized voice to deliver short audio narrations about points of interest. We do our best to make the narrations factually accurate, but the Service is intended for entertainment and informational purposes — not as a substitute for professional travel, historical, or navigational advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your use of the Service
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation.
- Use the Service while operating a vehicle in a way that distracts you from driving. The driving narrations are designed to be glanceable and audio-first; you are responsible for keeping your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. Pull over to interact with the app.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated systems to access the Service or its APIs in volumes that would constitute abuse.
- Republish or redistribute the audio narrations as your own work, in a paid product, or in a competing service without our written permission.
- Interfere with the Service or attempt to disrupt other users (e.g., misusing Party mode codes).
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others.
4. Location use + safety
StreetLore requires foreground location access to function. You control whether to grant it. While we make reasonable efforts to time narrations to land at the right visual moment, we cannot guarantee that the audio always plays before you reach a place, nor that the place described is exactly where the device thinks it is. GPS errors, OSM tagging mistakes, and AI-generated content all introduce occasional inaccuracies.
StreetLore is not a navigation app. Do not rely on it for directions, safety-critical information, or emergency situations. Always observe your physical surroundings, traffic, and posted rules.
5. AI-generated content
Narrations are produced by large language models, augmented with curated summaries, Wikipedia extracts, and OpenStreetMap tags where available. Despite our confidence-gated prompting and source-grounded editorial rules:
- Some narrations may contain factual errors.
- Some narrations are generated speculatively from training knowledge and could be incorrect.
- The Service may decline to narrate a place when its confidence is low — that’s by design.
If you spot an error, please email us; we genuinely want to know. We do not warrant that any narration is accurate, complete, or current.
6. Your content
You may submit feedback or bug reports. By doing so, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate your feedback into the Service. You confirm you have the right to submit it and that it doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights.
7. Our content
The Service, including the StreetLore name, logo, brand voice, editorial framings, software, and (subject to factual basis) the cached narrations, are owned by StreetLore LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may listen to the narrations as part of your normal use of the app. You may NOT:
- Save, redistribute, or republish the audio narrations outside the Service.
- Create derivative products that resell the narration content.
- Use the StreetLore name, logo, or wordmark in your own products without our written permission.
Content sourced from third parties — Wikipedia extracts, OSM names, hand-curated city facts, etc. — remains under their original licenses (CC BY-SA, ODbL, etc.).
8. Pricing + free use
The Service is currently free to download and use. We may introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we’ll be upfront about what costs money and what stays free, and we won’t change the deal on existing free features without clear advance notice.
9. Service availability
We provide the Service on an “as-is” basis and may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time. Network failures, third-party outages (OpenAI, Google Cloud, Mapbox, etc.), and routine maintenance can cause brief interruptions. We aren’t responsible for losses you may suffer because the Service was unavailable.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL STREETLORE LLC, ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits; in those places, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StreetLore LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, damage, loss, or cost (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
13. Third-party links + content
The Service may reference or link to third-party websites, services, or content (e.g., Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap). We don’t control those and aren’t responsible for them. Their content is governed by their own terms.
14. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app or closing the website. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that harms us or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive (Sections 5–13) will survive termination.
15. Governing law + dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. The federal and state courts located in Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes that aren’t resolved through the informal process below.
Before filing a lawsuit, please email us at hello@streetlore.app with a clear description of the dispute and what you’d like resolved. We’ll try to address it within 30 days.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Effective” date at the top and announced in the app or on the website at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
